Fishing Tournament Rules Overview

The WHOW tournament is designed to be competitive and fun for all anglers and crews. A variety of inshore and offshore species are eligible for scoring. This will maximize fishing opportunities and test each crew’s abilities to form strategy to increase scoring for their anglers over the two days of fishing.

  • The tournament will feature points based scoring to determine winners.
  • There are ten species eligible for earning points.

These include-

  • Calico Bass
  • Bluefin Tuna
  • Dorado
  • Halibut
  • Marlin
  • Rockfish
  • Swordfish
  • White Sea Bass
  • Yellowtail
  • Yellowfin Tuna

·Points will be earned by each angler for catching qualifiers and for heaviest fish per species.

Each angler will have their own scorecard, and each team shall consist of three anglers. Team award will combine points of all team members.

Prizes and awards will be distributed to

  • The angler scoring the most points in each species
  • High overall qualifier points angler
  • High overall weight points angler
  • High overall angler
  • High overall team

Qualifier Points

Each species (non billfish) will have a minimum, or qualifying length. Points will be awarded for each qualifier caught, up to species tourney limit. Qualifiers may be kept or released

Weight Points

Weight points will be earned by the weight of each anglers heaviest single fish per species that meet a minimum size requirement.
