All In

Model: Riviera Sportfish

Back for year two at WHOW is the anything-but-ordinary 47' Riviera Sportfish. Owner Jeremy Conrad has this vessel dialed in with every capability an offshore tournament team could ask for. As we highlighted last year, this fishing machine is equipped with triple-spreader Rupp outriggers, state-of-the-art navigation and fishing electronics, and more than 150 gallons of livewell capacity—a critical advantage for three full days on the water. Whether fishing inshore or offshore, this versatile platform is equally at home targeting tuna and yellowtail as it is chasing marlin and other billfish. Leading the charge is Captain Omar Meddeb, with Mates Mike Kitto and Jack Raub on deck. Together, this crew is the fishing equivalent of a five-tool baseball player—skilled in every aspect of the game. The veterans fishing aboard this year can expect an all-star weekend filled with opportunity, teamwork, and memories they'll never forget.

Bad Company 92

Led by WHOW Tournament Founder Anthony Hsieh and backed by the award-winning Team Bad Company, Bad Company 92 is proud to be back on the water for WHOW 2026! Everything about this Jones Goodell 92’ West Coast sportfisher has been updated and tournament-tested to ensure their Vets are on the leaderboard in every category. Boasting comfort, capability, and unmatched hospitality, Bad Company 92 leads by example when it comes to hosting WHOW vets so they can compete, connect, and create a network of support that sustains them long after the tournament awards are handed out.

Blue Water

It’s hard to describe to first-time yacht participants what to expect when they sign up for WHOW. The speed with which Team Blue Water committed to the 2026 event is all the validation anyone needs of the healing power and lasting impact of the WHOW experience. We are honored to welcome back the beautiful 65-foot Mickelson Nomad Blue Water for her second year. Owner Jim Malachowski and veteran captain Chris Fry—better known as “Frito”—are chomping at the bit to get back on the water with our WHOW veterans. For Team Blue Water, it’s about more than fishing. It’s about creating friendships, sharing experiences, and adding to a legacy of memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what memories they help create in 2026.

Back in the fold for 2026 is this beautiful 60-foot Viking. After making her WHOW debut in 2022, she was unfortunately sidelined in 2025 due to last-minute electronics issues. But Owner/Captain Sean Crowley has spent the past year getting her completely dialed in and is bringing 365 days of pent-up enthusiasm to this year’s event. Representing the pride of San Diego, Sean and the crew have something to prove and are determined to make up for lost time. With a fast, comfortable platform and a crew eager to get back in the game, they’re ready to give their Veterans an unforgettable experience and show them their best year yet.

Castigo

Back for year number four is Vietnam veteran and owner Larry Jacinto, alongside Captain Adam Cargill. If the giant bluefin got the memo that it's an El Niño year, this 78-foot Jones-Goodell is more than ready for the fight. With acres of deck space and room along the rail for days, this is the perfect boat. The team is especially proud of veteran Chad Artilovich, who earned a third-place finish in the Top Angler division in 2024. But Captain Cargill has his sights set even higher this year. "Our goal is to get the entire team on the podium." With that kind of determination—and a boat built for big fish—this is one team to keep an eye on. Stay tuned.

Chaser

WHOW welcomes back one of the boats from the early days — Chaser! Owner Greg Chase returns for his third year with WHOW, and he’s bigger and faster than ever aboard his 2023, 72-foot Viking 72 Convertible. Joining him is one of the tournament’s founding captains, Jimmy Kingsmill. Jimmy captained Ramble on Rose to Top Boat honors in 2024 and has also earned podium finishes with Joint Venture, while celebrating numerous veteran anglers who have taken home awards over the years. This dynamic duo has been fishing together for 16 years, and they’re primed to put even more veterans on stage during this year’s awards ceremony. The other boats in the fleet may have something to say about that, but one thing is certain: Chaser  will be doing it in style in 2026.

Coneheads

Making its WHOW debut in 2026 is Coneheads! Owner Scott Cone along with his son, Captain Chip, will be giving our Veterans an unforgettable experience aboard their 25' Parker—built with one purpose in mind: finding and catching fish in the waters of Southern California. Scott has been a boat owner for the past 16 years, spending countless days on the local waters and making memories with his two sons. In the process, turning his son oldest son, Chip into a Captain via working the local charter boats in So Cal. Now, they’re ready to begin a new chapter—joining the WHOW family and giving back to those who have served our country. Team Coneheads is excited for the opportunity to share the magic, peace, and healing power of the ocean with our Veterans. We’re proud to welcome Scott & Chip to the WHOW family for 2026. Welcome aboard!

Deplorable

Back for their second year at WHOW is Deplorable, a beautiful 50' Riviera and one of nine San Diego-based boats making the annual journey north to Newport Beach and Avalon. That level of commitment speaks volumes, and we're incredibly grateful for the time, resources, and passion these crews dedicate to our Veterans. Like many returning teams, the Deplorable crew spent the off-season making upgrades to enhance the experience. New for 2026 is a 100-gallon live well, ensuring plenty of premium bait and even more opportunities for action on the water. Whether pursuing fish, trophies, or unforgettable memories, Deplorable is ready for another great year at WHOW!

Double OO

WHOW welcomes a new face to the crowd, Double OO, A 58 foot Hatteras based in Huntington Harbor. Owner and Captain, Greg Beavers is a California native who has fished competitively on both coasts from the Atlantic to the Pacific including Central America, where he one time, had to outrun some pirates. Our tournament has no boundaries for fishing, but Greg and his crew, Including Basshole owner Mark Mettler and Kristy Mettler will keep her local. Greg is also a longtime member of the Avalon Tuna Club and Harbor Rod n Reel Club. We are excited to bring on and welcome this experience on behalf of the Veterans' they will be hosting and honored to having him join the WHOW family.

El Cazador

San Diego-based El Cazador, led by owner Mike Rian and Captain Mike Ryan, is back in the WHOW fleet and poised for another outstanding year. Year after year, their team has exemplified what this tournament is all about—great fishing, great camaraderie, and an unwavering commitment to our veterans. No one captures the El Cazador experience better than veteran Mea Peterson. As Mea puts it: "Last year I was invited to be one of the first four female combat-wounded veterans at War Heroes on Water. I could not have imagined that in my second year I would become the first female to individually place in the tournament, much less finish second overall in weight points out of 115 anglers. There is absolutely no way I could have done it without an amazing crew by my side. I love my boat—yeah, El Cazador! #Cheers—so much, and they are truly like brothers to me. It feels like home on that boat. The people and connections I've made at WHOW mean the world to me and have helped me through so much." Those words perfectly capture the spirit of El Cazador. It's more than a fishing boat—it's a place where lasting friendships are forged, confidence is built, and veterans find a community that extends well beyond tournament weekend.

Elevate

Back to defend their Fobbit Title for year number two is Elevate. It must have been the speed of the three Yamaha 425 offshore outboards that powered this beast to victory! Elevate is owned and captained by Rob Morris, a local software executive and an avid fisherman. Rob is also a service-disabled veteran, having served 10 years as an Air Force officer. Serving as first mate for the WHOW Tournament is fellow Air Force veteran Joaquin "Jack" Fernandez-Silva, who lives and works in San Diego as a venture fund manager. Rob and Jack have fished together all over the world for 20+ years. The team spirit on Elevate has been forged from college, where Rob and Jack were classmates at the Air Force Academy. They could not be more excited to give back and share the genuine bond of friendship that can be forged on the water with the WHOW veterans who join them. Welcome to year number two, team Elevate!

Fan Tail

For years, Fan Tail has been more than a boat - it's been family. Joining the WHOW fleet in year two as a 77' Hatteras and later returning as the stunning 106' WestBay, Fan Tail has created unforgettable experiences and life-changing moments for countless Veterans. As Veteran Damon shared: "My trip aboard was truly a turning point in my life... They gave us the chance to take a real break, a true escape from the world. That experience helped spark the healing I never knew was possible. Thank you to Joseph, Captain Mitchell, and the entire Fan Tail family for your unwavering generosity, compassion, and commitment to those who have served. The impact you've made extends far beyond the water."

Frostbite

WHOW is proud to welcome back Frostbite for her fourth year, representing Ventura in style. She may have the best-looking transom in the fleet, but her beauty is far more than skin deep. Owner Tim Dayton has assembled a team of anglers who truly embody the WHOW spirit: It's all about the Vets. They bring TTR in abundance—Time, Talent, and Resources—along with an unwavering passion for giving back to those who have served. For Tim, filling out the lineup card is probably the easiest part of preparing for WHOW. Eric Huff, Dave Rich, Bryce Hermann, and Jesse Martinez are all world-class fishermen who know how to work together. In fact, maybe Frostbite should be renamed Team Legos, because no matter how you arrange the pieces, they fit together perfectly. Each member makes the others stronger, and every one of them is committed to the same mission: It's all about the Vets. With talent, teamwork, and heart, Frostbite continues the legacy of giving back. We're proud to have Tim and his crew back for another year and can't wait to see what they accomplish in 2026.

Gad Zukes

Based out of Long Beach, this fishing machine is built and equipped for serious anglers, under the ownership and command of Captain Greg Zucchero. Greg spends every offseason ensuring the boat is ready for whatever it takes to find, reach, and land fish. Whether it’s upgrading equipment, improving performance, or adding new technology, he continually invests in making the vessel better each year. For 2026, Greg has Gad Zukes fully prepared and looking forward to hosting Veterans and delivering another outstanding season on the water.

Game On

Game On is honored to return for another year with War Heroes on Water. For Game On, what started as an opportunity to take veterans fishing has become one of the highlights of our year. Every tournament reminds them that the stories shared, friendships formed, and memories created offshore matter far more than what's written on the leaderboard. This year, owner Keith Lupton will again be joined by Co-Captain Brian Bolton and new Co-Captain Kevin Stewart, whose Team Red Rhino recently won the BD Outdoors Yellowtail Shootout. They're grateful for the opportunity to spend another day on the water with the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. Their mission remains simple: work hard, catch some fish, share a few laughs, and send our veterans home with memories they'll never forget. See you out there. It's Game On.

Getaway

Kerrouser

Returning for his fifth year with WHOW, owner Bentley Kerr welcomes Veterans aboard Kerrouser - a Newport Beach-based 2015 Riviera 50' Enclosed Bridge. Built for both serious fishing and comfortable cruising, Kerrouser is exceptionally equipped for life on the water. A lifelong waterman, fisherman, and maritime chef, Bentley carries on a family tradition of fishing, diving, and creating unforgettable experiences with friends and family on the ocean. This year, Kerrouser makes the exciting transition from a mothership to a competing fishing vessel. Joining Bentley at the helm is Captain Stephen Miller, a familiar face to the WHOW family. Stephen previously captained Twisted Tuna and Obie and brings years of tournament experience to the team.

Kingdom Treasure Hunter

Year number two for Kingdom Treasure Hunter, a 61-foot Viking, fully equipped with top-of-the-line fishing tackle and a massive bait tank, built to be a true fishing machine. With nearly 3,000 horsepower, and a trio with talent to match, she will have her Vets in podium position even before she leaves the dock. The vessel is owned by Matt Murray, also known as The Blue Collar King, a local entrepreneur and businessman. At the helm is Captain Justin Bottrell, owner of Bowline Sportfishing and a familiar face to many from Your Saltwater Guide. The team is rounded out with Joey Scales a 10 year marine Vet who when he isn’t on the water is busy working on avionics for our F-35's. Welcome back Kingdom Treasure Hunter!

Legend

Back for year number three is Legend, an 82’ Jones Goodell owned by Brad Rambo and captained by Russell O’Neill, with her crew of Bluefin hunters: Laurence, Nick, and Abel. One quick glance and you can see that her Vets will be able to enjoy the healing powers of the ocean in comfort and style. But take a closer look at the cockpit and you’ll see why, for the past two years, Legend has put a Vet on top with the largest Bluefin. This classic is set up for some serious fishing! El Niño is delivering some different conditions this year, and our fishery may not have Bluefin as the star of the show. Whatever the ocean has in store, WHOW is grateful to have Legend back and excited to see what she puts her Vets on in 2026. Welcome back, Legend!

Marie Sue

Back for its second year, Marie Sue may be a relative newcomer to WHOW, but is certainly no stranger to pulling big fish out of the water! From the Chesapeake shores to the Outer Banks, down to Key West and the Bahamas, and all the way around to the beautiful SoCal coast, Owner/Captain Irving Calderon and Marie Sue have fished it all. That experience, combined with top-of-the-line custom fishing tackle and comfortable accommodations on this 55’ Silverton are sure to lend an advantage to the vets they host. Plus, having served in the US Army, Irving understands the struggles and sacrifices our vets endure, and his hospitality means more than just a fun weekend – it’s an extension of true brotherhood.

Mi Bella

Mi Bella is making her way North from her Point Loma home to WHOW for year number three! Captain Billy Miyagawa is back for year number four after making his debut on Gambler, joining this Super Team. And honestly, “Super” almost feels like an understatement when you look at what these folks have accomplished over their first two years: back-to-back Top Boat honors and nine podium finishes for their Vets. Owner Frank Lopez and his team are on a run that rivals the Dodgers over the last two years! All eyes will be on this beautiful 46-foot Bertram as she exits the boat parade on Saturday. Welcome back, Mi Bella! We know your Vets are in for another world-class experience.

Moonstruck

Moonstruck is back! Captained by owner Kent Twomey, this 40’ Riviera first joined the WHOW family in 2022 and is back for its fourth tournament this year. Team Moonstruck hails from San Diego, with deep ties to the southern California sportfishing community, and Kent is always ready to mobilize his network in an effort to get more WHOW veterans out on the water to experience everything this tournament has to offer. We are thrilled to welcome Moonstruck back for 2026, and we know their Veterans will find more than just great fishing aboard – they’ll experience hospitality, camaraderie, and the thrill of competition!

My Lady K

My Lady K is back for year number 3! WHOW has special meaning to boat owner and captain Michael Scafuto and his team, as Michael himself is a Navy Veteran. Michael has spent many years fishing our local waters. This awesome boat, a 70’ Nordlund based out of Huntington Harbor, combined with a skilled team has her Vets in a great position to be a top competitor this year. Watch out for My Lady K as third time's a charm!

My Ruca

Returning for 2026 is My Ruca, a comfortable 59-foot Nomad that proved last year that flexibility and heart can make all the difference. When several last-minute boat breakdowns created unexpected challenges, My Ruca stepped up without hesitation, taking on three additional Veterans. After the trip, Captain and co-owner Tony Sammartino reflected that having those extra Veterans aboard only enhanced the experience. In all his years participating with WHOW, he said this trip was the most meaningful and memorable yet—for both the Veterans and the crew. Most boats begin the event with two Veterans aboard, and simple math would suggest that My Ruca carried five. But the reality was closer to seven, as both co-owners, Tony and Walter, are retired Marines themselves. Walter proudly served for 20 years, while Tony dedicated 25 years to the Corps. Their commitment to service continues long after their military careers ended. With My Ruca back in the fold for 2026, guided by two Marines and supported by an outstanding crew, the possibilities are endless.

Next is a common story for the fleet. Owner Zac Cullen had participated in multiple WHOW tournaments on his 60' Hatteras, Determined, which is now at home in Puerto Los Cabos. Situations like this don't stop our owners and crews from finding their way back to the WHOW family. His way back this year is a drop-dead gorgeous 75' Alexander with co-owners Gabe and Jason. Next is led by Captain Zack Winokur and First Mate Michael Mandato, both professional commercial fishermen. They are looking to bring Channel Islands techniques for multi-species competition to a different level, and we know the WHOW vets they host will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Paradise.calm

Welcome back to WHOW, Paradise.calm! This 64' Mikelson Nomad Long Range Sport Fisher is built to chase the big ones. Based in Miami, FL, owner and Captain Kerry Bubb has spent his life on and around the water. He and his wife, Lisa, have owned a variety of boats over the past four decades, making their love of the water truly a lifelong passion. Captain Bubb also comes from a proud military family. His father and brother served in the U.S. Air Force, while his oldest brother served in the U.S. Navy. Kerry is passionate about supporting our Veterans and giving back to those who have served. As Kerry says: “It’s our privilege to stand with veterans, both at events like this and in our annual golf tournament to benefit Semper Fi & America’s Fund.” We are incredibly grateful to have the Paradise.calm team back with the WHOW Fleet. Patriot

It is through the efforts of hundreds of patriots that WHOW is made possible. We’re fortunate enough to have one boat actually named Patriot. This 65-foot sportfisher out of San Diego’s H&M Landing is one of four for-hire sportboats whose owners take them offline during peak season to support WHOW. That level of commitment speaks volumes about the people behind these vessels and the mission they believe in. Captain Trevor Walsh and Chris Schutte reunite after leading Patriot to a 2nd Place Top Boat finish in 2024, and they're eager to build on that success in 2026. Owner Glen Morrison's commitment extends beyond the tournament, generously donating fishing trips each year to the WHOW Silent Auction to help fund the mission year-round. We can't wait to see Patriot back on the water—and to share another incredible lineup of auction adventures later this year.

Patron

Returning for its fourth year is Patron! Both the owner, Donny Orr, and his 44-foot Pacifica have a long and distinguished history in the Southern California sportfishing scene, including membership in the prestigious Avalon Tuna Club. Like many of our participants, however, any conversation with Donny quickly turns into an adrenaline-fueled discussion about what matters most—getting War Heroes back out on the water. Alongside John and Ray Robinson, as well as John Menzies, Donny is proud to once again provide an unforgettable fishing experience for our nation's heroes. In a world of "what have you done for me lately," Patron answered that question in 2025 by capturing the White Sea Bass Award with a pair of absolute monsters. Will Patron show the rest of the WHOW Fleet who's boss in 2026? Only time will tell, as the competition promises to be stronger than ever from top to bottom.

Play-N Hookey

As one of the original members of the fleet, Bill Larkin and Play N’ Hookey have helped shape WHOW into what it is today. They are back for year number eight and ready to add to their podium totals. Years 2020 and 2022 were a couple of highlight years where they took home three trophies each of those years. Over those first seven years, Captain Bill and his team have amassed double-digit podium appearances for the boat and their Veterans. Fantastic effort on behalf of their vets, and we look forward to seeing them add to their totals in 2026!

Puritan

For longtime WHOW participant Puritan, the story can be summed up with the famous phrase, "One if by land, two if by sea." By land, Cathy has been an invaluable part of WHOW, dedicating countless hours to making the Silent Auction a tremendous success year after year. Her hard work behind the scenes has helped raise critical funds that make the Freedom Alliance mission possible. By sea, Jeff takes the helm of the beautiful 54-foot Bertram Puritan, creating unforgettable memories for our veterans every time she leaves the dock. In 2021, Puritan came within a single bluefin tuna of earning Top Boat honors—a remarkable accomplishment considering the incredible level of talent throughout the WHOW fleet. While trophies are always exciting, at WHOW we believe memories are far more valuable than hardware. Year after year, Jeff and Cathy have shown that their priority isn't winning the tournament—it's giving our veterans an unforgettable experience. Perfectly blending serious offshore angling capability with comfortable cruising amenities, Reel Deal has been meticulously maintained by her knowledgeable and experienced owner, Kevin Kruse. Powered by dependable Twin Caterpillar C-18 Diesel engines at 1000hp each, Reel Deal has no trouble ensuring the vets onboard can get to the fish, while the space and amenities ensure they ride in style. We can’t wait to see what Team Reel Deal can do in its sophomore year!

Reel Time

Supporting our Veterans since 2019, Reel Time is back with the WHOW Fleet! This beautiful 60' Hatteras is custom-fitted for West Coast-style fishing and is a regular on the Southern California tournament circuit, where Reel Time continues to rack up impressive scores year after year. Owner David King grew up fishing with his family aboard various versions of “Reel Time”—from a 38' Bertram, to a 44' Pacifica, to a 58' Cabo, and now this 60' Hatteras. Dave shares his late father’s passion for the sport, as well as his commitment to family and love of country. With his team of Grant, Dave, and Scotty aboard, this sleek craft is ready to show our Veterans a Reel Good Time—and we’re expecting plenty of Reel Good Fish in this year’s tournament! We’re proud to have Reel Time back supporting our Veterans and can’t wait to see what this crew brings to the WHOW Fleet!

Sea Cup

Sea Cup is back for Year Two! The team's name is a nod to owner and Captain Mike McClaren's company, Better Vacuum Cups, a leading manufacturer of precision vacuum suction cups for wood, stone, and glass CNC routers. Joining Captain Mike aboard Sea Cup are two of Southern California's top anglers, Mikey Shea and Paul Lombardo, along with private chef John Gimpl, keeping the crew fueled and ready for the long days on the water. With this A-team, there's no such thing as a sophomore slump. From 160-pound bluefin tuna to trophy calico bass, Sea Cup has proven it can catch just about everything that swims. WHOW is thrilled to welcome Sea Cup back for its second season. Welcome back, Team Sea Cup!

Sea Horse

Back for their 8th year is team Sea Horse a 52 Maritimo Captained by the owner of Fishing Boats Unlimited a 3rd generation industry boat building company and founding fleet award winner Jason Greyshock, along with his crew consisting of Casey McCann and Paul Kroger bring you decades of fishing experience. This crew has won Top Boat, Top Angler and has put their anglers on the podium every year in Top category awards. Sea Horse is owned by Geoff Miller and Bruce Ferguson who have a deep love for our Country and our vets. Sea Horse not only fishes hard, it does it in style and comfort. Vets fishing aboard Sea Horse are not only in for an amazing fishing experience they will be treated to top notch service and hospitality.

Second C

WHOW welcomes back Tournament Control Vessel — Second C! She is co-owned and co-captained by two highly experienced fishermen who were once co-workers many years ago. There is a lot of sweat equity in Second C, and all that hard work has her well-positioned with the latest systems and upgrades to make another run at the podium after a one-year absence. Her last podium finish came in 2024 for Yellowfin Tuna with veteran Drew Lavoie. In fact, so much work has gone into this beauty that if we had a Ship of Theseus Award, she’d definitely be in the running! Co-Captain Rod Halperin is also the 2023 Founders Award winner, and that comes as no surprise. Rod has been there since the beginning, helping WHOW grow from its humble beginnings to 60 boats and more than 125 Veterans this year. Rod is also the Ken Jennings of fishing. Unlike Jeopardy, however, we’re happy to let him bounce back from his role leading the tournament and team up with his partner, Scott Nagel, to share their love of the ocean with our Veterans — while also sharing decades of knowledge of our local waters. No conflict of interest here! The Tournament Control Vessel and her dynamic duo are ready to compete alongside their Vets and battle for those coveted podium positions.

Sleeper

Dave and Sleeper have been a part of WHOW since our first tournament. Sleeper is a beautiful 38-foot Ocean Sportfish, with a name that pays tribute to the world-class mattresses he builds for the water, when he’s not on the water. An OEM supplier for the top boat manufacturers in the industry. But if you ask Dave, chances are the conversation won't stay there for long. He'd much rather talk about the veterans. Dave and Sleeper are symbolic of the fleet in that providing the vehicle for healing and being the bridge to forming new relationships is what keeps him coming back from the beginning. It’s all about the Vets, just ask Dave. We're thrilled to welcome Dave and Sleeper back for our ninth year and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the veterans we serve.

Sticker’s Quicker

“WHOW is Family” has been our mantra for many years. And part and parcel of that belief is that once you are family, you are family forever. Each year, those bonds deepen, and examples of that commitment continue to surface across the Fleet. This year brings us another great example. Wanderlust owner Gary Myers recently experienced a mechanical breakdown, while Captain Alex was faced with an emergency of his own. As a result, Wanderlust will not be able to make the starting line for Year 3 — and with just two weeks to go before our start date, that could have been the end of the story. But Gary didn’t just “tap out.” He tagged in. Gary called on his son, Andrew, and his 60-foot Hatteras, Sticker’s Quicker, to answer the call. Joining Andrew at the helm will be Dan Coonis, a previous WHOW participant with his former boat, Islander. With Dad aboard as a crew member and Don Brown commanding the cockpit, this team is ready to step into some very big shoes and carry the torch for Wanderlust. The Veterans aboard won’t miss a beat when it comes to fishing prowess, comfort, or the experience that makes this event so special. But there is one question we have to ask… Could Year 10 bring a little father-son competition to the Fleet? Regardless, we owe this team a tremendous debt of gratitude for answering the call and stepping up on behalf of the Veterans who will be aboard. That is what family does. Surly Mermaid

Returning to WHOW for its fifth consecutive year is Surly Mermaid! Owner Ali Palmer Johnson is a seasoned tournament competitor with a proven track record on the water. In 2023, Cindy Miles captured the WHOW Dorado title aboard Surly Mermaid. Fresh off a sweep of top honors in the BYCC vs. NHYC Interclub Tournament, Ali is already dialed in for another strong showing in 2026. It also bears repeating that Ali was a pioneer in creating a dedicated space for women within this tournament. Since 2021, she has been an unwavering supporter of WHOW, generously donating her time, expertise, and resources year after year. We are grateful to welcome Ali and Surly Mermaid back for another year and look forward to seeing the impact her team will make in 2026.

Susia

Returning boat Susia, gives us the opportunity to pull back the curtain on something that happens across the entire WHOW fleet, but until now has largely remained part of the secret sauce behind the deep bonds formed on the ocean. Before the event, every boat receives a snapshot of their Veterans, including food likes, dislikes, and dietary preferences. This information is treated as mission-critical. On Susia, Co-Captain Roger “Iron Chef” King puts as much effort into crafting the perfect charcuterie spread as his fellow captains put into planning bait presentation for the next three days of fishing. While Co-Captains Pete and Ryan are busy figuring out their next move after the morning bite, the Iron Chef is already hard at work preparing the mid-morning snack. Fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, and all the little details that make someone feel cared for are never an afterthought—they’re part of the mission. And this isn’t unique to Susia. It happens all across the WHOW fleet. Because at its core, WHOW is about thanking our Veterans for their service and sacrifice. What better way to show appreciation than sharing great food together during those quiet moments at first light, while waiting for the next bite, or as the sun slips below the horizon? Fun fact: these culinary wizards can also gaff a fish on command.

Tangler

Back for year number five is WHOW’s version of The Fast and the Furious — Tangler. The triple threat of owner/captain Mark Hazen, along with captains Craig Stanton and Wes Pierson, are no strangers to putting Veterans on the podium, having earned top finishes in various categories in three of their previous four years. Their success proves that speed kills. This 47-foot Freeman is arguably the fastest boat in the fleet, capable of reaching speeds in excess of 60 knots. And no, you’re not seeing double this year. Joining the fleet as Tangler’s “mothership” is a stunning 91-foot West Bay SonShip that shares the same lineage—and the same name. With both vessels at their disposal, Mark’s Veterans will truly have the best of both worlds: the comfort and amenities of a luxury yacht paired with the speed, range, and fish-finding capabilities of one of the most formidable sportfishing platforms on the water.

The Kid

Phil's first introduction to WHOW was years ago on the Tenacious, followed by multiple years on the Merityme III. Phil, along with his two co-captains Miles Nicholas and Dave Dodge, can't wait to get out on the water with their vets and share their love for the sea. Welcome back to The Kid for 2026!

The Sequel

The name may change, but the unwavering support continues. Whether it was Hattitude or this year’s star, The Sequel, owners Robert and Jen Stephens remain committed to WHOW year after year. It takes a lot to bring the largest program of its kind to our Vets each September. Beyond being an owner, Jen is one of those volunteers who piles up the hours before the tournament begins to make WHOW happen. If the crew aboard The Sequel matches her energy and enthusiasm this year, expect some podium finishes. No pressure, guys… Back to The Sequel, the third stalwart in the equation is Captain Tom Yorath, running this 50-footer through her paces on behalf of her Veterans. Eric Lenahan rounds out the crew for 2026. Welcome back, The Sequel!

Tiger Spirit

Returning to the WHOW fleet for 2026, Tiger Spirit brings championship pedigree and next-level hospitality to the water. This 54’ Bad Co Viking, based in Newport Beach, is built to perform—but more importantly, built to host. Led by owner Ned Wallace and Captain Sergio Cota, the team has earned over $2M in Bisbee’s Tournaments winnings, highlighted by a 597-pound black marlin victory at the Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament. On tournament day, though, it’s not about the leaderboard—it’s about the experience. Veterans stepping aboard Tiger Spirit can expect a dialed-in crew, top-tier gear, and a day on the water they won’t forget. Glad to have you back, Tiger Spirit.

Tonnage

Tonnage may be a first-time WHOW boat, but there is nothing rookie about the team behind her. Co-owners and co-captains Greg and Todd Phillips have held U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton captain's licenses for a combined 77 years. Having grown up in Southern California, it does make you wonder just how closely they followed their high school's attendance policy. Most of those 77 years have been spent fishing the waters from San Diego to Long Beach. They started as young deckhands aboard Southern California sport boats and have worked their way up to owning this beautiful 44-foot Pacifica, Tonnage. The boat's name is a nod to their company, tonnageindustrial.com, as well as their expectations every time they head offshore. That combination of experience, passion, and proven success bodes well for the veterans fortunate enough to fish with Greg, Todd, and crew member John Clifford on September 25. The depth of talent throughout the WHOW fleet is remarkable, and Tonnage is another great example. We can't wait to see what this crew puts on the dock in 2026.

Wahooson

Wahooson will be making its Tournament debut this year in WHOW.  While new to WHOW, she's a wiley veteran in the Southern California fishing scene.  She's a 37' Freeman center console Catamaran with quad Yamaha 300 outboards (re-powered in November 2025) and is busy running bluefin charters in August and September.  At the helm will be captain Alec Robbie who has a storied career in the long range and local fishing scene, as well as owner/ Captain Pat Wade as deckhand.  The speed and agility make her a great weapon for the War Heroes veterans we look forward to having on board!

Waymaker

The only thing first-time for this 44-foot Pacifica is the boat itself. At the helm will be one of WHOW's original members, the ultra-introverted Dave Hanson. Known to many through yoursaltwaterguide.com, Dave is a walking encyclopedia of the Southern California fishing scene, giving the veterans aboard an incredible advantage. Joining Dave is third-generation fisherman Mac Sullivan. Fishing is truly a family tradition for Mac. His maternal grandfather introduced the family to the joys of Catalina Island and the productive waters in between. Mac's uncle, Steve Davis, has been a longtime supporter of WHOW, providing his boat, Bamboo, for years to transport support personnel and supplies to Catalina. Back aboard Waymaker, owner Ken Sullivan has assembled a winning team. Dave and Mac are no strangers to fishing together, having previously competed aboard Joint Venture, another outstanding boat that proudly calls WHOW home. WHOW is excited to welcome Waymaker to the fleet and looks forward to seeing this experienced crew make their mark on the water.

Whitecaps

Since 2021, Owner Jason Bibelheimer and Co-Captain Dan Holiday have been delivering that debt of gratitude for our Vets via Bikini Bottom. If Bikini Bottom was their Barry Sanders era—fast, elusive, and always making big plays—then 2026 welcomes their Eric Dickerson era. Say hello to Whitecaps, a gorgeous 49’ Hatteras GT45. With 12 extra feet, another 20,000 pounds under her, a Seakeeper to keep everyone comfortable, and a tuna tower with Carolina rigging, Whitecaps is built to put our Veterans on fish while continuing to deliver an unforgettable experience. The upgrades don’t stop with the boat. Jason and Dan are also adding the next generation to the crew with Justin Bibelheimer joining them on deck. One of the greatest parts of WHOW is watching the passion for serving our Veterans get passed from one generation to the next. Whether aboard Bikini Bottom or now Whitecaps, Jason and Dan have always delivered incredible experiences for their Veterans. We can’t wait to see what this new chapter brings as Team Whitecaps welcomes their 2026 Veterans to the WHOW family.
